before summer ends

If there is one summer trend that I absolutely loved this season, its coral lips!!
Images from google
They're just so different and bright! And just out there ya know? I loved them, but I was always self conscience about how an coral shade would look on me. I am of a medium skin tone, and Im pretty sure Ive addressed my fear of corals in a previous post. My Coral Nails post. Yes, coral/orange/yellow does not look good on me! I feel like it makes me look too dark. But anyways, I have slowly been wandering into the coral spectrum and it started with my nails, and then I wore a coral top (which I got tons of compliments on) and now, on to lipstick!! I just couldn't let the summer go by without at least trying it once.

I went to my mom's friend (who is also an Avon representative) and ordered a coral lipstick which is pictured above. While initially opening it I was heart broken to see that it was slightly melted and breaking off. I quickly popped it into the fridge to fix it. After an hour or so I got it out and decided to test it out. The results shocked me...

I loved it!!! Its not as orange as I thought, since it is a bit sheer the natural pink hue of my lips showed trough which gives off a very pinky coral shade which I really like. Definitely my new favorite lipstick! Sorry Blushing Brunette! This lipstick goes on so smoothly it almost feels like a lipbalm which makes me love it more. This is my first moisture seduction lipstick (I always buy the regular formula) and well, I really like it better than the regular formula.

my week in photos.

I decided to start this little project to showcase a bit of my camera work and also to just keep this a fluent blog. So if anything, each week you will receive a post similar this. This week consisted of my revving up my old film camera. I decided to finally go out and shoot, thought I havnt gone out yet, it is in my plans to do so. Ive been drinking coffee like a mad man and I love to drink it out of my Nikon lens coffee mug, I get a lot of compliments on it when I take it to school and it just makes me feel all neat and artsy. I bought some instant iced latte packs. You just pour in your cold milk and the little packet and voila! and instant iced latte! I love the hazelnut flavor the best. One thing that really calms my nerves is taking pictures of flowers. Especially pink ones. There is just something about pink flowers that soothes me. What soothes you on a nerve wrecking day?

A Few New Makeup Buys!

I went into this resale shop looking for a birthday gift for my boyfriend's little cousins and I somehow managed to wander toward the makeup section and I found this Stila Palette for only $5.99. My initial instinct was just to grab it and run away. I love it, it has some really pretty shimmery colors. The colors are (left to right), sugar/light/peaceful/bronze/dawn/precious/demure/delicate/sangria/truffle. My two favorites have got to be Dawn and Sangria. Sugar is your basic white eyeshadow with lots of shimmer. Light is a very light almost pink brown with again, lots of shimmer. Peaceful is a pretty lilac/pink color. Bronze is obviously a bronze color but it has more of a peachy shimmer to it. Dawn is a peach color with a more golden shimmer. Precious is like peaceful but its more pink than lilac. Demure is more of a true deep brown copper. Delicate is a gold color with hold shimmer. Sangria is a red wine color and Truffle is a dark brown with a tiny bit of copper shimmer. Truffle is the least shimmery of them all. I love all of these colors, they're all very pigmented and super soft. My only problem is that since they are so shimmery they have a TON of fallout while applying. I find it better to pack on the shadow instead of sweeping it on. You definitely need a primer with this to get the full intensity of these shadows.

I bought two lipsticks off of an Avon catalog. Firstly I would like to say that I love Avon lipsticks, theyre so smooth and creamy and with a very nice pigmentation. I love these colors, but, I dont like the shimmer in them. Ive never been too fond of shimmery lipsticks and yeah. I was kinda upset because the swatch in the catalog showed no sign of shimmer. I got the colors Country Rose which is a very light hot pink with pink shimmers, and Cozt Mauve (I made a mistake in the picture, the color is COZY MAUVE, not MOD MAUVE!!) which is a mauve color with almost like a gold sheen to it. Not too pleased with these. Out of the two of them, I like Country Rose better. I blot them with a tissue paper to reduce the shimmers and I get a nice lipstain from both of these and they are very moisturizing. The lipsticks where kind of a hit and miss for me.

Any products you regret buying recently?

ps. You guys like the way I edited the photos? let me know! :)

Coral Boots!

I went to the thrift store today and got a few things, some not really post worthy but anyways. I found the coolest coral boots ever. I'm not sure what to wear with them, i was thinking maybe wear like all black and then the boots. Might look cool, you know, color pop. So yeah, they're a size too big but I still got them. They where only ten dollars and I was planning on wearing them in the winter anyways so I would wear them with thick socks. Over all I love them and I'm going to be going again soon to see what other things I can find!

FOTD

Vee you grainy little blob, you~

Today's look consisted of  matte taupe and brown eye shadow with winged out eyeliner. I wanted to do something different yet a bit simple for work. So this is what I did. Yep! I didnt do anything to my hair and went in with a bed head, but I woke up with a subtle bed head so all was well.

I used most of my new stuff I got from ELF which Ill show you guys once I get my other package! Yes, I went a little ELF crazy *slap on the wrist* but its so hard not to since they always have sales! I think my favorite product has to be the eye brow kit. It does wonder for my sparse brows.

FOTD & OOTD

My morning started off as does every morning in which I dont work. A slow, boring, long, morning until I find something to do. I woke up and turned on my laptop and decided to listen to some music via spotify, if you havnt tried it, you definitely should! Its great! It was a Civil Wars kind of morning. I looked in the mirror and saw that my hair was a huge mess and well frankly I did not feel like showering, so I straightened my hair. Im rather odd and instead of leaving my hair natural when Im feeling low maintenance, I straiten it. Ha! So I straightend it and teased it just a tad. Then I moved on to my makeup. I didnt feel like blending and busting out a ton of stuff, so all I did was prime my eyes, and just put a matte brown shadow on my outer lid to give it some definition and then lined it heavily with a gell eye liner. I applied mascara, a mineral finishing powder,  blush and then a coral lip tint. Simple. Easy. I was feeling extremely lazy that day.
Products used:

Eyes
E.L.F Miniral Primer in sheer
Brown shade in Avon Quad "sandy corals"
E.L.F cream eye liner in Black
Lancome Definicils mascara in Black

Lips
Covergirl lipstain in 435

Face:
NYC Mineral finishing powder
E.L.F blush in Candid Coral
Recently I have found myself shopping at my job, which is weird because honestly, I dont really like the clothes there. I love the jeans and accessories but its very rare that Ill find a top that I like. But I found one and them some which I will post about another time in a little haul. But anyways, I found this really cute black crop top shirt with 3/4 sleeves. And it has been settled that I am in love with 3/4 sleeves right? Right? I saw it when we put out the freight and I just had to get it! I literally went the next day and bought it before it would get snatched up.

Its a bit thick, so I think Im going to find myself wearing it more during the fall. But ugh I just love it. I wore it with some shorts, and my knock off TOMS which I also got at my job. I have some real TOMS but these where only ten dollar with my discount and they're extremely convincing so I was like eh! What the hell! And bought them. (I added the studs, they dont come with them).

Yes yes, that was my day/morning. I just ordered some Urban Decay goodies and I ordered some E.L.F stuff yesterday which I will definitely haul once I get them! I will also make a post about all the stuff I bought from my job today!

Thanks for reading! :)

Nails of the Week!

This week I decided to be adventurous and to try out a color which I never thought I would wear. I tend to stick to the color spectrum for medium toned skin with yellow undertones. But as stated before, I decided to venture yonder the color spectrum and try a color I always thought would look weird on me.

The color is called Boogie Nights from the Sinful Colors brand which I love (1.99 at Walgreens) and its a coral. The reason I had stayed away from corals in the past was because I always thought that orange looked odd on me. Kinda thought it made me look darker. But I decided to give it a go since this a go since I noticed this was more of a pinky coral, than a coral leaning more toward the orange side. I really like this, and it does make my hands look a tad darker, but I guess thats just unavoidable. But this is still wearable for a medium skin toned person and I really like it! :)

LUSH Cupcake Fresh Face Mask Review!

This is a review on my recent LUSH purchase, which is a fresh face mask. These do have expiration dates with a shelf life of oh, approximately three weeks, and you do have to keep them refrigerated. And I just think the refrigeration process adds to how amazing these are because of the cool sensation you get while applying these.

"To calm breakouts, this Rhassoul mud cleans and soothes, while cocoa butter, linseed, and cocoa powder softens the skin. Balancing peppermint, spear mint, and sandal wood oils complete the effective deep cleansing experience"

That is the description on the pot. So it obviously smells chocolaty since it does have a lot of cocoa products in it but you also get a whif of the mintyness in it. The scent is rather strong, but I did not mind it at all while my boyfriend found it unbearable. I just want to say how much this mask has helped my skin stay clear. I am very prone to stress caused acne as I suffer from anxiety and stress over the most mundane of things. I would get them a lot on my forehead, neck line, and around my hairline, but since I started using this mask my pimples have reduced and my skin feels less oily. I cant help but give full credit to LUSH since I havnt used any other acne clearing face products besides this one. I got around 9 uses out of this, it is a 2.1oz pot, and as stated before has a shelf life of three weeks. And for 5.95 a pot, its not a bad deal. Plus if you bring back five empty pots you get a free Fresh Face Mask of your choice. Pretty spiffy eh?

I really recommend this for people with oily and acne prone skin obviously. This doesnt really have any grainy particles in it so if you like your Face Masks to have a srub in it, I would maybe try something else like Love Lettuce or Brazened Honey. All in all, I love this and will definitely be repurchasing soon.

Ps. My cellphone did not come in today and I am extremely disappointed as I was really excited to get it. So much for overnight shipping!!

Forever 21 Haul

Last week, I had gotten paid and literally stared at my check, wondering what to do with it. I mean, I had paid all of my bills, set some apart and put it in my savings account, but I still had a lot of money left over which I didnt know how to spend or what to spend it on. Then I remember that I had been wanting to shop at Forever 21 I decided to hop onto the website as I prefer that than to going to the actual store.

I love Forever 21 and all the stuff they have to offer at cheap prices, but I hate how big the store is. I feel like its way too over whelming and I never know when to start and I usually end up wasting an hour or so of my life and only get a few accessories. My boyfriend could vouch for me on that. So I opted for the website and ordered a few stuff online.

F21 Jewelry, all $1.50
I got a few pieces of silver jewelry because I was starting to feel like gold was taking over and I dont even really like gold to begin with. I wanted to used the free shipping F21 offers on orders over 50 bucks, but I didnt have enough in my cart and I didnt really want anything else, clothing wise so I opted for a little handfull of the cheapest jewelry they have. :P I got some mustache earrings, which I cant even wear (I have stretched ears, but I just thought these where too cute to pass up). A little necklace with a camera on it, because as a photographer, you can never have too many camera inspired accessories. A necklace with a feather on it and  lastly a black horn necklace rimmed with rhinestones which I just thought was cute.

Next is nothing too special, just some basic 3/4 sleeve (I love 3/4 sleeves D:) crop tops, but they're not like super cropped which I like. I got these in a medium and they where $7.90. I just thought they would like nice tucked into a skirt, or maybe just with some shorts and my TOMS, Im a very simple girl.

And this is probably the cutest shirt I own now, its a kitty cat with some blue shinny glasses on! Too cute! And it also a 3/4 sleeve shirt! I simple could not pass this grab up. I got this shirt in a medium also, and it was 12.90. I ordered a size up because Ive gained a bit of weight and I have a slight muffin top going on which I dont like to show off. :P

And I saved the best for last.

ISNT THIS THE COOLEST BAG EVER OMG?!
I saw it and fell in love instantaneously. My boyfriend had told me he saw a bag with a camera on it, knowing my love for camera inspired things. So I decided to scope the mens section and found it and I didnt even think twice about getting it. Its big and roomy, maybe a bit too big but Im sure I can manage.

So thats all I got from F21!

And here is just a small tid bit that I would like to share with you all...

This phone, pictured above is my new cell phone. I ordered it online yesterday and I got overnight shipping so it should be coming in tomorrow! Excitement! This is my first "cool" phone since my first phone was just a crappy standard messaging phone. My original plan was to get an iphone, but I dont feel like my job is stable enough to keep up with the expenses of an iphone so I opted for this one instead. I quiet like it.

I will probably make another post tomorrow when it arrives and now maybe I can make OOTD posts since I have something to take mirror shots with.

Tomorrow I should be going to the college Im attending and get everything settled since school starts in about three weeks. So We'll see how that goes, other then that Im sorry I havnt been posting, but I had been super busy with work until this week. I hope you all have a wonderful week and thanks for reading!

The Thing My Little Heart Currently Desires...

My wish list
I geeked out a bit I must admit, with adding an external harddrive and a few toys (cameras) and as a digital arts student how couldnt I add a fabulous Mac Book Pro on my wishlist? I have a few beauty related things on my list but alas! Art is my priority so I will obviously want more things to do with my art career. Some things I dont necessarily want an exact copy of what is in the picture, like the jeggings for example, any jeggings would do, dont have to be the ones I just want some more. And I know some people dont like them but I personally dont like wearing pants, and with jeggings I can get away with wearing pajamas almost so hey! An Iphone would be ideal! But what Im saving up for right now is for my Holga and a cheap P&S camera, I already have my Nikon D90, but its rather bulky and large to carry around everywhere so Im going to buy a small point and shoot camera for daily use and just to take it on the go. I love Toms! They are super comfy, I already have one pair but I really want two more pairs, or maybe even four. The two bags pictured are a some bags that I have been eyeing on ebay lately. They are on my watch list and Im just waiting for the moment where I can splurge on myself to buy them. Some other items I have no justification for besides the fact that I just want them, but after all this is just a wishlist!

THE HEATPOCALYPSE.

Lucky you if you live out of the US! I sure wish I was in Canada right now! Its extremely hot, humid and just horrible. People have even died because of heat exhaustion in my area. They're advising to stay indoors, and since I have the rest of this week off I will do gladly!
Its apparently 91 where I live, but God its extremely hot.
Gotta keep hydrated!
So please! If you live in the US or are also experiencing extreme hot weather in your area stay indoors or keep extra hydrated if you plan on going outside!

PS. Anyone else like my choice in glass wear?

The Rest Of The Week Off With Nothing To Do...

Today was my last day at work for this week, so I have Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday off, and to most this would be great but I honestly feel like rubbish when Im just at home. I much rather be at work, making money and being useful then just moping around the house for the next couple of days. I asked for Friday off to go a Christina Perri concert that I didnt end up going because I loaned my sister some money to help her pay her rent. I dont resent the decision, I love my sister and will help her in any way I can Im just bummed that Im not going to be able to go or go to work. I have a wedding to attend on Saturday which excites me since I simply adore weddings. But Saturday seems a long time from now. I only worked nine hours this week -_- Not good... The only bright side is that I will finally be able to catch up on some reading! I had recently ordered a heap of books off of Amazon because I told myself that I was going to read more the summer of 2011, they arrived Tuesday and Im excited to read them all!
Wuthering Heigts by Emily Brontë, Girl, Interrupted by Susan Kaysen (currently reading), Albert Einstein - The World as I see It (no specific author, just a bunch of quotes by Albert Einstein stating his opinion on various subjects such a war, ect.), Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk, The Virgin Suicides by Jeffre Eugenides, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Cohn & Levithan, and Pledged by Alexandra Robins.

As I was taking pictures of the books for you guys I stopped to let Muffin out of her cage to let her run around and as I turned around I saw this...

That is Muffin Top in all her bunny glory IN her food. Theyre her bunny pellets, which I dont really like feeding her. It makes her poop squishy :x I feed her these once a week, and she loves them. I prefer to give her natural vegetable rather than these processed foods. My mom likes to feed her tomatoes from her little garden patch. I then proceeded to took her to the kitchen with me to give her a little snack and fix myself some dinner!

Muffin munchin' on some yummy iceberg lettuce!
My Dinner!
I gave her some lettuce to munch on which is much better for her than those pellets and I made myself a home made hamburger with some lemon iced tea on the side I didnt get to finish at work!

Song of the day!
Ceilings - Alive in Wild Paint

Yes! Thats all for today! :)

FOTD - Featuring My Muffin Top!

Vee, you grainy little blob!

And by Muffin Top I mean my little bunny Muffin! Just thought I would post this since I havnt actually posted my face yet on here hmmm and just to give me a reason to post!

My day went as follows
Woke up at 12 pm >.<
had a salad and some crackers for breakfast errr lunch
moped around the house for a bit
read Girl, Interrupted for a few hours
then went out with my boyfriend for some wings

It was a rather nice day besides the gloomy rainy weather, I usually love rain but you learn to hate summer rain if you live in Houston TX. The rain add an extra bit of humidity and mugginess to the already existing humidity. Yuck!

And sorry for the nasty webcam photos, you might be wondering why my makeup, and other photos are such nice quality while the actual pictures of me suck and its because I broke my camera lens >.< and all I have left is a 50mm macro lens which is absolutely rubbish for taking photos of self. So yes! You will have to bear with me while I work on getting it fixed!

Other than that, thank you and have a nice day! :)

What is in my makeup bag

A Collective Haul

Okay! So I did a bit of shopping this weekend, It was my dad birthday so I bought him some stuff and bought myself a few things also. The first item pictured is a cute gray loose and thin heather gray tank top with a cute little owl graphic on it. Its kinda cropped but its longer in the bottom. Its super light weight and absolutely perfect for the hot and humid Houston TX weather (top was $8.99 from Ross) Second item is just a regular charcoal gray tank top with heather gray trimmings. I really like tank tops with buttons. I had been eyeing this tanktop for a few weeks, I would look at it every time I would go to target to see if it was on sale or not since 18 dollars for a tank top as simple as this was a bit too much. So I waited and this past Sunday when I went to target it was on sale for $10! Third item is a loose fitted long sleeve vintage coral pink shirt. Its light weight and the perfect summer color. I got it because I thought it would look cute with some high waisted jean pants or short and a thin black belt or something. (On sale for $3.97 from local thrift shop) And the last clothing item was a purchase made also at Ross and its a white loose fitted lacey tank top. It has another sheer tank attached to the lace portion of it. Its very cute and girly and i got it to match it up with some skirts. (Originally marked at $12.99 at Ross, and was on sale for $5.99). I really love the sale section, my boyfriend always tells me that if he looses me at a store that he can just go to the sale section and find me. Haha.

The last item is a new hair straightener, I use my straighter to wave and curl my hair more than to straighten which is rather weird since it is after all… a hair straighter. My hair is usually wavy, by usually I mean that my hair is rather odd and changes textures daily, sometimes it wavy, sometimes its extra wavy and sometimes its just flat out straight. I prefer using a straighter for curling and waving my hair than a curling iron because I find that my hair tends to kink up when I used a curling icon. This Remington straightener with this cute print was only 12.99 at Ross.

I just thought I would share this with you, I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the day! :)
